[Swatch] Rescue Beauty Lounge- Aqua Lily

Today I have an exciting polish: Rescue Beauty Lounge- Aqua Lily, a decidedly HTF (hard to find) limited edition polish that was originally released as part of the Spring 2012 Fan Collection.

However, Rescue Beauty Lounge just did another "Bring It Back," or BIB, in which fans vote for polishes they wish to come out of retirement. This time Aqua Lily was a clear favorite- so I snatched it up while I could.

Artificial light, three coats:

Aqua Lily is...well, aptly-named: a beautiful aqua base with magenta-pink ultrafine shimmer throughout.  The shimmer mostly shows up in the sun and under fluorescent lighting.  When the pink is not directly visible, it lends the polish a nice sort of milky depth- hard to explain, but it's nice.

It is also a very difficult to photograph polish.  I had a hard time getting the shimmery pink glow to show up at all.  It is a tad bit more present in real life.

Window-filtered daylight:

Outside, shade:

Partial sun:

Above you can see the "milky" quality I was talking about.  I like it!

There's that shimmer, finally!  Unfortunately, there is tip-wear since I had to wait a day for the sun to come out.

Lightbox isn't really helpful showing the pink either.  Hmph.

Here it is under a fluorescent lamp:

It doesn't actually give me lobster hands in reality.

Formula: Aqua Lily was not bad by any means, but there are a couple things to note: You have to work sparingly with your brushstrokes, because it tends to drag after too many, although it's not horrendously unforgiving.  It also needs three coats unless you like visible nail line, and in fact, I still noticed faint VNL after three coats outside. Hmmmmm.

So....Does Aqua Lily live up to the hype?  In my opinion: No- I wish the shimmer was more apparent.  However, it is a lovely polish I'm happy to own, and it will soon become very difficult to obtain again.
