Hey guys, happy Friday! How are you?
Today I have a super enticing holographic collection to share with you! This the Cupcake Polish Butterfly Collection for Spring 2016, which releases this Sunday, the 24th. This collection consists of six beautiful, saturated linear holos.
Let's get right into it!
First, here's Cupcake Polish- Little Butterfly:

Little Butterfly is a medium green with a linear holographic finish. I'd say this shade of green leans to being blue-toned, but overall is pretty balanced in between warm and cool-toned. It does photograph way cooler than it is in person, so required a bit of color-correction. Actually, most of these shades (save Cocoon, below) required color correction, just FYI.
Artificial light, two coats:

Holo!

Formula: It's really nice: pigmented, creamy, self-leveling, and super easy to control. Nearly opaque in one coat, actually! I used two coats for swatches. A+!

Next, Cupcake Polish- Cocoon:

Cocoon is a medium, soft burnt orange holographic. This is a hard color to describe! It's not straight orange or red, and it's not quite coral! There's a little bit of pink in there and a little bit of a brown undertone. I don't know! But it's certainly unique and very intriguing! Sometimes, it even looks like an orangey, coppery bronze.
Artificial light, two coats:

And, some different lighting to show the holo:

Formula: It's very similar to Little Butterfly- maybe a slightly thinner viscosity, but still what I'd consider medium territory, and very easy to control. Opaque in two easy coats!
--
Here is Cupcake Polish- Hatch Of The Day:

Hatch Of The Day is a medium, cool pink holographic. The holo seems to be a bit stronger in this one than in the others.
Artificial light, two coats:

Holo!

Formula: Just like Little Butterfly: great texture, easy to control, opaque in two coats. Very, very nice!
--
Here is the beautiful Cupcake Polish- Time To Fly:

Time To Fly is a vibrant, warm-toned (red-based) purple holographic.
Artificial light, two coats:

Holo goodness!

Formula: It's maybe slightly thicker in viscosity than some of the others, but still so nice! Self-leveling, easy to control, and nearly opaque in one coat like Little Butterfly. I used two easy coats for swatches.
--
Next, Cupcake Polish- Transformation:

Transformation is a medium purple-leaning periwinkle holographic. This is a very cool purple that pulls bluish against my skin, and is just very changeable depending on lighting. Very beautiful!
Artificial light, two coats:

Holo!

Formula: Like Time To Fly, it's maybe slightly more viscous than some of the others, but is still easy to work with, self-leveling, and doesn't pull or drag (none of them do). Opaque in two easy coats!
--
Finally, Cupcake Polish- Metamorphosis:

Metamorphosis could also be considered a periwinkle, I think, but it's on the bluer end of the spectrum compared to Transformation. It seems pretty similar to Transformation in the bottle, but there are differences on the nail, and it's noticeably more blue. You might not need both unless you're super into blue/purple/periwinkle!
Artificial light, two coats:

Holo sparkle!

Formula: It's very similar to Little Butterfly and also nearly opaque in one easy coat! (I used two for swatches.) Super nice!

Overall, these are some nice linear holos, I have to say! The holographic rainbows are strong enough to see indoors even in indirect lighting. They really come to life in the sun of course, but every color basically glows all the time. Hatch of the Day, perhaps due to being a softer, less pigmented color, had the strongest holo effect of the bunch. Color-wise, this set is pretty unique! There are two blue-purples that both border on periwinkle, and are just so pretty for Spring. Cocoon is also a fairly unique color, as it's not a straight orange- especially in person!
Formula-wise, all were excellent! They had great, easy textures to work with, and all were opaque in two coats. Couldn't ask for more!
My personal faves are Time to Fly, Metamorphosis, and Cocoon!
