Here is Butter London- Trifle from this year's Spring 2014 Boho Rock collection.

Trifle is described as a "An opaque, plum base with golden shimmer. Decadence finds its inspiration in rich custard, sponge cake, and cream." I find that fairly accurate, except the shimmer is really more bronze than gold.
Artificial light, two coats:

This is really a gorgeous bronze- the base color makes it so unique!

See my lovely dented ring finger nail? Yea, don't pick at your polish, people! In retrospect, I should have worn a ridge-filling base for these swatches. But, the damage is already mostly grown out, so lesson learned.
Formula: If you can properly load the brush, it is fine; but, too little, and you get dragging at the cuticle, and too much, and it'll be prone to bubbling. I honestly wasn't expecting cuticle drag issues with a metallic finish, but here we are.
It does dry down quickly though, and the second coat goes on much more easily. Overall, not bad- just don't expect perfection at first.

Quick Comparison!

When the flash hits it, you can see that Trifle has a much redder/ plummier base than any of the others. In other lighting, a lot of these look fairly similar, but there are no dupes here!
What do you think?
I love how antique and old this color looks. Great comparison to other similar colors too.
ReplyWow, Trifle is actually quite unique. When the Boho collection came out I was least impressed with this one because Butter has done iterations on copper almost every season for over a year. Maybe I should just accept it as a thing, I dunno, lol. To me, Shag and Sunbaker are standouts and now Trifle, too, seeing your swatches.... I'm thinking it'd be worth it to keep my eyes peeled for a sale for this one. That plum undertone is really pretty. Oh, and RIGHT ON for scoring a Ghost Ranch before all the brouhaha :)
ReplyTrifle is particularly pretty! Thanks for the comparison too, these are very helpful. I really love the purple tint in trifle, i've not seen this is in any other bronze/antique gold polish before.
ReplyThat's a good way to think about it- antique!
ReplyHaha, it is a thing, I guess! I don't have Shag or Sunbaker, but have agonized over Sunbaker a little. Hmmm....
ReplyYes, and Ghost Ranch! I love it! But yes, brouhaha is the way to describe that for sure!
No problem! I think it is fairly unique. :)
