Zoya- Ornate Winter 2012 Collection, Part 1 [Swatch]

Here are the first three of six Zoya Ornate Winter 2012 polishes- exciting!

Left to Right: Logan, Ziv, Storm

First up, is the gold, Zoya- Ziv:

Ziv (Is that a real woman's name?) is a very yellow-toned light gold.  The finish is very interesting: it's a foil, but it's made up of very dense flake-like gold particles, some of which are much darker than others to add depth and dimension.

Artificial light, three coats:

It does not look great on my skin, but I will still wear it- it's just that lovely.

Window-filtered daylight:

Outside, shade:

Sun:

Let's take a closer look at the finish which makes this polish so unique:

Ziv is gorgeous up close!

Formula: Ziv had my least favorite formula out of the entire collection, but it was not bad by any means.  I needed three coats for complete opacity, and the formula might benefit from a drop of thinner, but it was very easy to work with regardless. It seems like one of those formulas that might get gloopy with age, so I'll have to watch it.

Next up is Zoya- Storm, the gorgeous black with rainbow, scattered holo shimmer particles:

Artificial light, two coats:

Here's what we want to see- outside, sun:

It's really sparkly- so many rainbows- but I had a hard time capturing it with the camera.  Check out the out of focus nails to get an idea:

Up close!

The rainbows don't really show up in the light box, unfortunately.

Formula: Storm had a great formula, covering easily in two coats and self-leveling nicely.

Next up is Zoya- Logan, a green foil with both blue and yellow undertones:

How is that possible, you ask? Well, the base is blue-toned, but there are tons of yellowish shimmery particles, so when the light glances off the surface it can look yellow-green, while in certain other situations it looks very bluey-green.

It almost has a duochrome feel, and was a surprise favorite for me!  I didn't think I would love it as much as I do!

Artificial light, two coats:

Window-filtered daylight:

It's looking similar to Zoya- Charla here, but is much greener in person.

Outside, shade:

Sun:

It's very reflective!

This is such a special, complex polish!

Formula: No complaints, it was great! It covered effortlessly in two coats.
