Rescue Beauty Lounge- Emoting Me [Swatch] & [Review]

Here, finally, are my three picks from Rescue Beauty Lounge's Spring 2013 collection, called Emoting Me.  There are four other polishes in the collection, and a couple of them are quite interesting neutral-inspired shades, but I went for a few of the more colorful polishes this time!

First up, I have Rescue Beauty Lounge- Smile:

Smile is a cool-toned cherry red with coral undertones.  It has subtle, fine gold shimmer.

Lately, these types of really cool-toned reds are my jam, and I could not resist this one- and am not disappointed.

Artificial light, two coats:

RBL does the whole subtle, microshimmer thing really well.  In most lighting, the shimmer isn't visible, but it gives the finish an extra glowy boost that it would lack otherwise.

Outside, shade:

It sorta looks like it gives me lobster hands there, but I didn't notice that in real life.

Sun:

The microshimmer does come out in the sun.

Formula: The formula is on the thicker side, and very buttery!  It glides on easily and self-levels.  Two thicker coats are adequate for complete opacity, but some might be happier with three thinner coats, or leaving it at two thin coats for a squishier look!

Next, is Rescue Beauty Lounge- Turn It Around, the most talked-about in this collection:

Turn It Around is a dark olive green base with very present bronze- pink chunky shimmer.  I almost want to say that the shimmer is duochrome shimmer?  But I'm not totally sure.  It seems to change hue when you move your fingers around...

Artificial light, two coats:

This is kind of a dingy color...but has the great surprise of the strong bronzey flash when the light glances across the surface of your nail.   I love chunky flake shimmer like this.

Window-filtered daylight:

Outside, shade:

Sun:

Formula: Neither too thick or thin, but does lean to the thicker side; very pigmented. The first coat is a bit streaky, but self-levels well. Two coats are all you need. This has my favorite formula of the three.
--

Last, is Rescue Beauty Lounge- Pause:

Pause is a medium, bordering on dark, toned purple.  The base color seems to lean slightly to the cool side, color temperature-wise, but is infused with warmer-toned, lighter purple and blueish shimmer particles.

Artificial light, two coats:

Window-filtered daylight:

This one actually has quite a bit of dimension, especially when you go outside, although I think I've failed to capture the subtleties of the shimmer.  I think it's been said, but if you're a purple-lover, you need Pause!

Outside, shade:

Partial sun:

Formula: Thick and pigmented. Be careful not to overload your brush or you might end up with some bubbling. (I did on my first try.)  The first coat goes on smoothly and is almost opaque.  I needed two coats to even everything out.

--

Overall, I'm really pleased with the colors that I chose; they're all pigmented, lean to the thicker side, and have interesting finishes.  Turn It Around is particularly unique, although I enjoyed wearing Smile the most.  At $20 USD, they're definitely spendy, but do seem to be pretty high quality. I do wish that RBL would do something about the labels- they don't adhere properly to the bottom of the bottle, and eventually fall off.  But, that's a minor gripe.

Yea, that one is pretty special, and I love that the shimmer doesn't hide!

Great picks! Smile is lovely on you, and I didn't notice any lobster hands, just incredible color and shine ♥ I adore Turn It Around, too, Ji is the master of the subtle shimmer but I love how this one is more pronounced. And olive + copper... gorgeous :) Beautiful photos.

Great picks! I have yet to pick up any RBLs because the price tag scares me, LOL. But your swatches are beautiful and make me think twice about that :)

Oh believe me, the price tag scares me too! But I have temporary moments of insanity wherein my wallet slips and spills all my bank account info, and a week later I have some spensy nail polish. It's a disorder!

Yep, I agree with Estivalia.. price tag scares me... there are a few I've wanted to buy but are usually sold out. Oh well, there are a million other brands to buy. Nice swatches BTW and love the first one!

They do seem to sell out really fast, you're right, and there are a million other brands to check out. :)
