I Love Nail Polish - Birefringence is a saturated multichrome that is simultaneously bright, medium aqua and indigo/ warm plum at the edges. Sometimes, at oblique angles, the indigo part looks more fuchsia, and you can even see a hint of gold-yellow at the edges.
Artificial light, two coats:

I mean, do any of those shots look like the same polish?! I was bouncing the light at different angles, and each time the polish reflects a different variety of colors. This might be the strongest duo/ multichrome polish I own!
Window-filtered daylight:

The above photo best represents how Birefringence appears to the naked eye, in person, most of the time.

Outside, shade:

Sorry about the awkward hand pose, but I thought that last one showed the shifting well- especilly the gold at the edges!
If you like duo/multichromes at all, this one is gorgeous, very peacock-y/ beetle-y, and you need it!
Formula: It's a medium-thin consistency, but pretty easy to apply. Full coverage in two coats! You do need to paint in straight lines to minimize brushtrokes, but that is pretty normal with most chrome-type polishes, and in a lot of lights the brushstrokes aren't noticeable at all, and dried down pretty seamlessly. This did chip quite easily on me, but I have found that to be typical of multichromes.
I'll do a comparison with I Love Nail Polish- Cygnus Loop when I swatch that one!
That is some super crazy color-shifting! I have Hits Artsy, and it's a good substitute, but it pains me that it comes in such a small bottle :x Thanks for sharing this awesome multichrome! :)
ReplyIt IS so shifty! And, no problem! :)
Fabulous shots! You captured the beauty of this polish!
ReplyThank you! I honestly don't know if that's possible..unless someone makes a video..hmmmm!
