Welcome to another edition of Nailstalgia! This time, we'll be taking a look at a very iconic dark grey creme: Zoya- Kelly!
Kelly was one of the very first non-drugstore polishes that I purchased shortly after becoming interested in nail polish. This shade brings back memories, and is still a favorite of mine, so I'm really happy to be able to feature it today!

Kelly is a cool-toned dark grey creme. It's extremely changeable, and on my fair/cool skin, it pulls purple a lot of the time. Sometimes, it looks like a straight grey, and other times more like a super dusty, muted purple. Interesting! If you have cool-toned skin, this is probably the grey for you!
Artificial light, two coats:

It looks like a fairly balanced grey under artificial, indoor lighting.
The little octopus decal is from a Sinful Colors Rad-A-Tat sheet I picked up in the drugstore! This decal actually worked a little more effortlessly than the Nailed Kit versions I've tried, and actually transferred onto the nail. (Although they are entirely too cute, I've had to manually place the Nailed Kit decals after soaking with water- they just seem slightly transfer-resistant from the stiff paper backing.)
Outside, shade:

Looks more like a purple here, right?
Formula: It has a medium viscosity- maybe slightly on the thinner side, but very workable. It leaves just a bit to be desired in the self-leveling department, but does even out eventually, just slowly. If you use way too many strokes, it's possible to get dragging at the cuticle during the first coat, but that's mostly not a concern, as the second coat does not want to pull as much as the first did.
I needed two coats for opacity. Nice overall!
What do you think? Do you guys own Kelly?
Do you have another favorite dark grey creme?
Ughhhhhh! What is my problem? I will post mine this afternoon, I wrote it in my planner and everything haha! Your swatches of Zoya Kelly are flawless!!!
ReplyThis is a lovely dark grey. Its great to hear that you like it too. I don't own this color but its nice and may be something for me to pick up in the future.
ReplyPretty sure this is an untried for me. I planned to wear all these muted colors last fall and winter, but didn't... But this IS pretty! Note to self, wear this Zoya!
ReplyThat really is such a pretty color! <3
ReplyThank you! I think it's versatile too!
ReplyHaha, yes! Wear it! I think you'll enjoy it. :)
ReplyDefinitely!
ReplyHaha, no worries! And, thank you!
ReplyIt looks great on you! Lovely swatches as always. I finally managed to get my post up (never managed a how I wore it post in that speed!) and I hope you both won't strangle me for not actually owning Zoya Kelly.
ReplyI promise I'll be better next month!
