This is my first sponging attempt. For a long time I was intimidated by them, but it turns out they are not so hard (at least with glitter).
There seems to be many different sponging techniques, but I just went with painting Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure- Gilded Lily directly onto a makeup wedge and going from there. The base color is Color Club- In The Limelight.
I get tired of holding the polish bottles, haha! (Especially the Sally Hansen CSM ones- they are so cumbersome.)
This was a fun easy way to spice up an aging polish job, or just give a creme color some bling. The only thing I didn't like was all the clean up. You can only be so precise with a sponge; even if you cut it down to size, the polish will likely get on your cuticles and skin.
And, this may be a faux pas for a nail polish blogger to admit, but I do not do post-polishing cleanup with a brush (My cuticles just don't need the extra exposure to acetone.). I've just gotten pretty decent at painting in the first place. Sometimes I will use a corrector pen like the one Sally Hansen makes, but that is rare.
At any rate, I'm looking forward to attempting more gradients in the future!

ReplyThank you! Ring is from Charming Charlie. If you have one of those around you, don't go in because you will be MIA for HOURS hypnotized by all the pretty colors (esp if you like costume jewelry/ accessories.)
