Well, not entirely pastel- I got a little carried away with glitter. (But who doesn't?)
Actually, I was trying to disguise some tipwear on my thumb nail, so I really need opaque glitter coverage there. Initially, I wanted to fade it out as a gradient, like on the pinkie nail, except diagonally, but it got out of control!
I wasn't in the mood for eggs or bunnies, but I was feeling like a nice skittlette, and I don't think I've done one for the blog before!

Here are the polishes I used for this design:

Orly- Flawless Flush is the base color as well as the tip color in the gradient (and half-moons). This is a polish from the company's recent Blush collection for Spring 2014, and I have swatches coming up for four of those, so stay tuned!
Illamasqua- Scarce is the milky pink glitter- swatched here separately. I used regular scotch tape to get that clean line. Illamasqua- Jo'Mina is the darkest purple in the gradient, and also used as the base color on the pinkie. I used binder reinforcements to create the half-moon shapes, and as you can see I've been having trouble with those adhering properly to the corners due to the curvature of my nails. Advice?
Finally, Nubar- Violet Sparkle is the gorgeous purple glitter sponged onto the pinkie and free-handed onto the thumbnail!

Happy Easter/ Egg Holiday!
So pretty, Cait! I love the purples. And yes...it's very easy to get carried away with glitter...I love the sparkles, myself! :) Happy weekending!
ReplyI too found the binder stickers didn't really quite work for me as far as sticking down tightly for sharp lines :/
ReplyLove the purples! Shame on me for not yet wearing jomina!!
Thank you! I am more and more into purple lately! :)
ReplyOmigosh- wear it! It is one of my favorite polishes...of all. I can't believe I haven't swatched it yet. And good to know about the binder stickers- I think it's just the combination of not being sticky enough and curvy nails.
ReplyGORGEOUS palette! I love the Scarce accents. I've been wanting to try a half-moon with binder reinforrcements, too, so I'm all ears for advice, as well. And Happy Easter to you, as well!
ReplyThank you!! This was a fun one to do. I'm thinking maybe the binder stickers work a little better if you put them closer to the cuticle? That's a more classic half-moon look anyway.
ReplyGorgeous! I love your palette and the glitter is a cute adittion. Happy Easter to yo too! :)
ReplyWhat a pretty purple mani for Easter! Its lovely.
Replycute!
