Bottle Spam: Polishes for Winter!

Although Winter Solstice isn't until the 21st, I thought it might be a good idea to kick off December with a bottle spam! These are the polishes I am excited to try out this Winter season!

For the most part, I drew from my 'Untrieds' portion of my stash, but there are a couple of shades that I'm just itching to wear again!  There are pastels, which I really like in Winter, as well as many deeper shades- and a lot of metallic finishes. Let's take a look!

Pastels:

Essie- Body Language, LVX- Cashmere, Misa- Genie in This Bottle, Zoya- Harley, Deborah Lippmann- Glitter in the Air

I really love lighter, airy shades in Winter, since it can be so dark.  I think they're reminiscent of snow, and they can pair with almost anything.  Essie- Body Language is absolutely one of my favorite Essie polishes, and I've worn it quite a few times already.  It looks really similar to LVX- Cashmere in the bottle, but Cashmere is darker and a little warmer. I love Zoya- Harley and I've spoken about it here before.  That subtle shimmer is just amazing in a color like that!

Blues & Periwinkles:

Morgan Taylor- Take Me to Your Tribe, Picture Polish- Denim, Misa- Frozen in Time, Picture Polish- Blue Dog, Super Black- The Bends, Morgan Taylor- Under the Stars

Since writing this post, I've already used Morgan Taylor- Take Me to Your Tribe in a gradient, but I cannot wait to wear the other one, Under the Stars, alone, since it's really, really gorgeous & sparkly in person. I've never seen a glitter mix quite like SUPER BLACK- The Bends, so I think it'll make an interesting manicure, too. (I used to scuba dive, so the tiny black hexes alluding to decompression sickness (gas bubbles in the blood, tissues, and joints) are both horrifying and clever.)

Greys, Silvers, & Greens:

Emily de Molly- Pyrite, Formula X for Sephora- Freaky Like Freud, OPI- Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure- Olive Branch, China Glaze- Wagon Trail, Illamasqua- Rampage, Butter London- Jack The Lad

Okay, so I don't know what it is exactly, but silvers and dirty greens really scream 'Winter' to me. Anyone else? Can you believe that all of these polishes are untried?! Enjoy my shame! I'm probably most excited to try Emily de Molly- Pyrite, since it was a long time lemming, but Formula X for Sephora- Freaky Like Freud is incredibly, ridiculously sparkly and holo in person. Just jaw-dropping!

OPI- Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous I've owned for a long time, and have used for a manicure for my Mother (she loves it!), so I can't wait to see what it looks like on me.  I will probably use China Glaze- Wagon Trail for a Nailstalgia post, since I think it is gorgeous and iconic enough to stand alone!

Reds & Burgundies:

Zoya- Mieko, China Glaze- Ruby Pumps, China Glaze- Winter Berry, Illamasqua- Scarab, Cult Nails- Iconic, Elevation Polish- Toubkal, Deborah Lippmann- Razzle Dazzle

I've already worn China Glaze- Winter Berry since photographing these polishes, and it was nice I think. It's a jelly, so if you need a squishy, cool-toned red jelly, this could be a nice one. I liked the formula! I'm also reserving Illamasqua- Scarab for a Nailstalgia because I think it is old enough (Winter 2010), and pretty well-known!

If you can believe it, I have never actually gotten around to wearing China Glaze- Ruby Pumps, so I am hoping to work that into some nail art. When I first got "into" nail polish seriously, I picked up Orly- Star Spangled (not pictured) early on, and that is pretty much a dupe for Ruby Pumps. So, I just snagged the mini at Sally's recently to see what the hubbub was about!

Miscellany:

Formula X for Sephora- Light My Fire, OPI- DS Classic, Nubar- Iris Dust, Zoya- Charity, Zoya- Lotus, Illamasqua- Baptiste

Like Scarab, I am also saving Illamasqua- Baptiste for a Nailstalgia post, so that's why it's been sitting around so long untried!

Nubar- Iris Dust appeals to me since it's warm-toned, and multichromes tend to look great in lower light or when the sky is cloudy! Formula X for Sephora- Light My Fire is a recent acquisition, but it's a light shade with a lot of bling that will look great in Winter. The two Zoyas are feminine shades with shimmer, so I had to throw those in!

That's it!

What do you think?

Have you tried any of these polishes?
What's your favorite color family or finish to wear in Winter?

Such pretty colors! I have Zoya Harley and she is lovely in the winter. After the brown and shimmers of fall and the gittery shades of the holidays, I'm ready for some low-key cremes in January. I also like China Glaze Pelican Grey and Zoya Kristen.

Love your winter choices! As I am on the other side of the world I'm preparing myself for brights and neons, but I'll bookmark this post for when it's winter time (I never know what to wear in that season, lol).

Also, I did a nail mail post inspired by the ones you do with Ham, featuring my pup I'd love if you could take a look :) http://thisgirlsnails.blogspot.com/2014/12/nail-mail-ilnp-sale.html
