Pantone "Marsala:" Color of the Year 2015 in Nail Polish!

I'm sure if you read beauty or design blogs, you've been exposed to "Marsala," Pantone's choice for 2015 color of the year, already, but I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and pick some polishes for you to see which embody the shade a little bit.

Now I had a hard time, since I actually have a ton of selection for this type of color. Marsala is essentially a rich, warm-toned rosy brown, mauve-ish shade.  I know many people aren't totally sold on this color, and while I find it not...thrilling, exactly, I do think it's versatile and flattering on most people. At any rate, I had to narrow it down to just five polishes, so that I could show them on one hand for you!

From thumb to pinkie: , Nubar- Iris Dust, OPI- I Knead Sour-Dough, Essie- Island Hopping, China Glaze- Fifth Avenue

Now, looking at these photos in comparison to the Pantone swatch, maybe I was a little off?! I do think that the shimmer and lighting affects the color perception though, so in person these are a little more Marsala...y. I tried to pick a mix of finishes as well.

Bottles:

In photo order:

Butter London- Trifle
Nubar- Iris Dust
OPI- I Knead Sour-Dough
Essie- Island Hopping
China Glaze- Fifth Avenue

If you need more ideas, Zoya's Natural Deux transitional collection has a couple of cremes that come quite close, and I've done a comparison with Butter London- Trifle that has related hues.  There is also this Mega Comparison of smokey purple taupes that does actually contain a few warmer shades (bottom of post) which approach "Marsala."

What do you think of Marsala and my picks?
Do you have a favorite Marsala-esque nail polish? I'd love to know!

You totally reminded me I have I Knead Sour-Dough, and it totally works in this color field. I also just purchased Zoya Marnie because of the Color of the Year. I also am eyeing that KBShimmer Men are from Marsala!

I got I Knead Sour-Dough through a swap. Not impressed at first, the color looks great with my skin tone. I will be showing it lots of love next year.

I feel the same a little bit. I liked it but didn't love it at first, but now it's growing on me. :)

Fair warning: it's beautiful but pretty sheer! That was four coats! I'm sure it is great over black though.
