Today I have four of seven polishes from Indigo Bananas' Summer 2014 release, called Summer Rains, to show you! Get excited, because these are gorgeous!
First up, here is Indigo Bananas- Reign:

Reign is a violet-leaning garnet jelly base filled with flakie particles that shift red-orange-green.
Artificial light, three coats:

This reminds me a lot of Barielle- Elle's Spell, but I think Reign's base is a bit more crimson and less straight red- which I prefer!
Window-filtered daylight:

Outside, shade:

This is really, really stunning, and I was a bit in shock as I was applying it.
Up close!

Formula: It's nice! It glides on the nail smoothly with no problems. I had some observable nail line after two coats, so I used three for swatches. However, I prefer this one at two coats despite the VNL, because the cool magenta base shows more, and the overall color appears more cool-toned!

Next, Indigo Bananas- Rainbow in the Dark:

Rainbow in the Dark is a dark charcoal jelly base filled with multi-colored, shifting flakie particles, as well as holographic shimmer. I think the name is very apt!
Artificial light, three coats:

This is very, very unusual for a Summer release, and I appreciate that!
Outside, shade:

Partial sun:

It's much more holographic than the above photo shows; I just had crappy sun that day.
Up close!

Formula: This is a little sheerer than Reign, and also has a noticeably thinner viscosity. I would have actually preferred this to be slightly thicker, but I don't think it's so thin that you can't control it. It builds to opacity in three easy coats- no problems to report!

Here is one many people are very excited about (including myself), Indigo Bananas- Acid Ocean:

Acid Ocean is a blue-leaning teal jelly base filled with colorshifting flakies that show green-aqua-gold.
Artificial light, three coats:

Window-filtered daylight:

Oh man, Acid Ocean is really super lovely. Right up my alley!
Outside, shade:

Up close!

Formula: It is on the sheerer side like Rainbow in the Dark, but maybe not quite as thin, viscosity-wise. It glides onto the nail easily though, drys down extremely quickly (I forgot to mention that all of them do this, which is wonderful), and builds to opacity in three coats.

Finally, my personal favorite, Indigo Bananas- Hole in the Sky:

Hole in the Sky is a blue-leaning violet jelly base filled with red-green-orange coloshifting flakies as well as holographic shimmer.
Artificial light, three coats:

This is so pretty!! The base is really my favorite kind of heavily blue-leaning purple!
Outside, shade:

Guys. Guys, are you seeing what I'm seeing?! Look at those shifty ass flakies! Basically heaven in a polish is what I'm saying! Yum!
Formula: It's a little less sheer than Acid Ocean and Rainbow in the Dark, but still needs three coats for opacity. The formula, like the others, is pretty wonderful. It just glides on, and goes right where you want it!

Overall, Wow- I love these! I'm not surprised though, since I adore jellies, I adore flakies, and the added holographic particles to two of these is a bonus as well. I found the formulas on all four to be really excellent as long as you don't mind doing three coats. They do dry down quickly, without cuticle drag issues, and I'll probably wear Reign at two coats anyway!
The quality of these four has definitely piqued my interest in the other three polishes from Summer Rains. This collection has totally upheld my already lofty expectations for Indigo Bananas! Can't really say enough good things...
I'd love to know what you think!
Are you guys feeling flakies in jelly bases?
These are gorgeous and something I would wear too. I like flakies a lot and it being in these jelly bases are really nice.
ReplyOmigosh! Hahah, I am so sorry! Minis are so fun though- enjoy! :D
ReplyIt's such a winning combination!
ReplyI'm totally not a flakes in jelly base kind of person, but wow, these are gorgeous. One prettier than the other! Hole in the Sky is definitely my favorite. Due to you I recently ordered my first Indigo Bananas polish, but I haven't worn it yet.
ReplyThose macro shots!! *Drooool* Gah I love all of these, absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyHaha, thanks! They are so pretty! I was impressed!
ReplyI like that we have the same favorite. :) I think you'll enjoy it!
